Wales’ debut at the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025, taking place in Switzerland, is being celebrated through a series of cultural projects supported by the Welsh Government’s £1 million Euro 2025 Partner Support Fund.
Jess Fishlock, Wales’ most capped footballer, is honoured in a full-size pitch mural.
Ms Fishlock said: “It’s a huge honour to represent Cymru and to be part of a first-of-its-kind mural celebrating our history-making appearance at the Euros.”
The mural, designed by Welsh artist Regan Gilflin and Cardiff studio UNIFY, is located in Splott Football Park.
Elsewhere, Literature Wales has commissioned poet Sarah McCreadie to accompany the team and produce 14 original poems capturing their Euro journey.
A short film by director Aaliyah MacKay tells the story of Eleeza and Rosheen Khan, Wales’ first female Muslim referees and coaches.
Ms MacKay said: “At the heart of this project are questions of equality, diversity and inclusion.”
Culture and sport minister Jack Sargeant will travel to Switzerland to support the team.
Mr Sargeant said: “This weekend marks a watershed moment for Welsh football as our women’s national team takes to the pitch for their first ever European Championship.”
