A woman was struck by a car on a main road in Tameside on Wednesday afternoon (July 2), with tram services brought to a standstill.
Police and paramedics raced to the scene of the collision on Manchester Road, in Droylsden at around 3.45pm, following reports of a car hitting a pedestrian.
The Bee Network announced that due to the police incident, near to Cemetery Road tram stop, no services would be running on the line between Ashton town centre and Manchester Piccadilly.

It was confirmed that officers attended to reports that a woman, aged 21, had been struck by a vehicle. Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.
Emergency services vehicles blocked the main road for around an hour, which caused the ‘major’ delays to the tram network.
No arrests have been made in connection with the incident, Greater Manchester Police confirmed.

Bee Network posted on Wednesday: “Due to a police incident at Cemetery Road, there is currently no service on the Ashton tram line, between Ashton Town Centre – Piccadilly.
“Ticket acceptance is on place on the following bus services: 7, 53, 76, 171, 172, 216, 219, 230, 231. We’re sorry for any inconvenience.”
