Emergency services are in attendance around Sandhills train station following reports of “trespassers on the railway”. Merseyside Police and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service are currently in attendance at Sandhills Lane following an incident earlier this evening.

Merseyrail confirmed “due trespassers on the railway at Sandhills, services on the Northern line are suspended between Liverpool Central and Hall Road”. The ECHO does not currently know the nature of the ongoing incident but has approached the fire service and Merseyside Police for comment.

Merseyrail first posted on social media about the ongoing incident at around 10.15pm today, Wednesday, July 2. An image sent to the ECHO shows several police and fire vehicles on the road and a cordon close to the entrance to Sandhills train station.

Merseyrail added: “A rail replacement bus service is currently running between Moorfields and Hall Road in both directions. Ticket acceptance is now in place on all relevant bus routes with Stagecoach and Arriva bus services.”
