Draper 4-6 Cilic – Cilic takes first set!

A simple enough hold for Cilic, who dropped a double fault to fall to 15-30 but then won three points without reply to take his game.

Draper is serving for the set now, and he starts with a great rally that ends with Cilic just stroking a forehand to the opposite side for the lead.

A near-perfect approach shot sets Cilic up to volley over at the net for 30-0, before a skilful forehand ends with Draper overhitting the return! He needs to save three break points here…

But he can’t even save one, with the serve being rifled back at him out of reach for 1-0.

Swiatek forces a decider

Swiatek 5-7, 6-2, 0-0 McNally

She may still not be truly comfortable on grass but Iga Swiatek is fighting out on Centre and has levelled up her match with Caty McNally.

The Polish eighth seed has cruised to a 6-2 triumph, setting up an intriguing decider.

Can Swiatek pull through now in the third?

Draper 4-4 Cilic*

A superb cross-court forehand sets up three break point chances for Cilic, and Draper could be in trouble here.

A great serve saves the first one, before an ace takes number two. He needs one more though…

He gets it! Back to deuce, and quickly to advantage Draper as he rifles in a great serve that Cilic can only hit wide.

And a couple of good defensive shots are enough to hold, as the Croatian overhits the return to cheers on Court 1.

*Draper 3-4 Cilic

Very even on Court 1 so far.

30-30 as Cilic looks to hold, though he overcooks a return and gives Draper a chance at break point.

The Briton can’t take it yet though, returning to the net, and we go to deuce.

Cilic follows that point with a great serve and superb cross-court forehand, but he then hooks a shot long!

And the 2017 runner-up holds once more, with Draper hitting long to settle the game.

Perhaps a missed opportunity for the Englishman there.

Draper 3-3 Cilic*

Another hold from Cilic, as a great serve wraps up another hold for the Croatian.

Draper’s own serve proves tough to return too though, with the Croatian failing to answer two in a row before the 23-year-old powers an ace past to hold to love.

Krejcikova fights her way through

Krejcikova 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 Dolehide

The defending champion in the women’s singles draw is still in there fighting and books her place in the third round.

For the second match in a row, Barbora Krejcikova needs three sets but takes the decider 6-2 here to beat Caroline Dolehide of the USA.

It’s 10th seed Emma Navarro up next for Krejcikova on Saturday

Draper 2-2 Cilic*

Great defending from Draper as he forces the error from Cilic, who overcooks the return for 30-0.

However, the Englishman loses the next points and Cilic brings it to deuce, taking advantage before Draper manages to save it as the Croatian overhits and then sees his next return fly long.

Tommy Paul makes strong start

A good first set for the American 13th seed Tommy Paul as he races to a 6-1 win over Sebastian Ofner.

Paul was particularly effective on second serve, winning 80 per cent of his points, and is on his way in the quest to play 19th seed Grigor Dimitrov in the third round.

*Draper 1-2 Cilic

Better from Draper initially but he loses two points to take it to 30-all, before only finding the net with a return after a fairly long rally.

Cilic holds serve eventually, rattling a volley down the middle to win it.

Draper 1-1 Cilic*

Confident enough from Draper on his first service game, though he does get help as a raking backhand clips the net and makes the return almost impossible for Cilic.
