Serena Williams embraced one of summer’s most popular footwear trends while attending an intimate afternoon cocktail reception hosted by Evan Ross in London on Thursday.

For the event, which took place at the Vesper Bar at The Dorchester, the tennis icon chose a pair of brown strappy sandals by Jimmy Choo. The stylish shoes were crafted from leather material and featured a set of straps in the upper. The rounded-toe silhouette was completed with a slim, short heel that measured between 2 and 3 inches in height.

As for the rest of her outfit, Williams opted for a tan paneled silk dress, which she accessorized with black bangles and a pair of black sunglasses.

Her choice of strappy sandals is in line with what many celebrities have been opting for in their appearances lately. Many brands, such as Stuart Weitzman, Chanel and Gucci, offer a wide range of strappy sandals with varying heel heights throughout the season. The shoe is often preferred for red carpets, as well as for formal and casual occasions, due to its versatility and ease of styling.

Williams, herself, typically opts for strappy sandals on her outings. For her recent appearance at the 2025 Time100 Gala in New York City she wore a pair of Christian Louboutin‘s Condora Strap pumps that featured a flared inward slanted heel and a classic pointed toe on the red carpet. Designed in a slingback style, the silhouette included a singular strap with a small buckle wrapped around the ankle. That same month, she was seen in a pair of black Dolce & Gabbana Keira sandals, for a pop-up event held by her brand Wyn Beauty.

The shoes were characterized by a patent leather upper, a rounded-toe design and a thin strap over the toe. Additionally, the back of the shoe had a low-cut counter and a simple ankle-strap that boasted a small D&G logo detail. The sandal featured a four-inch stiletto heel.
