A disruptive airline passenger is said to have urinated in the aisle of an EasyJet flight from Birmingham to Tenerife, sparking a mid-air emergency that forced crew to call ahead for urgent police assistance.
The shocking scenes unfolded aboard flight EZY6607 on Wednesday, July 2, prompting air traffic control to give the aircraft priority landing at Tenerife South Airport, where it touched down shortly before 3:30am. Local newspaper Canarian Weekly reported that the EasyJet crew had requested “urgent assistance” following “trouble on the flight to the summer hotspot,” with a “mid-flight emergency” causing “signifcant disturbance” on board.

The airline confirmed the passengers had become “abusive and threatening” during the journey from Birmingham Airport. On arrival, police boarded the plane to deal with the unruly group. A spokesperson for easyJet said: “We can confirm that flight EZY6607 from Birmingham to Tenerife on 2 July was met by police on arrival due to a group of passengers behaving disruptively onboard.
“easyJet’s crew are trained to assess and evaluate all situations. They acted quickly and appropriately to ensure that the safety of the flight and other passengers was not compromised at any time. The safety and well-being of our passengers and crew is always easyJet’s priority, and we do not tolerate abusive or threatening behaviour onboard.”
It comes weeks after police stormed an EasyJet plane which was plunged into chaos by a rowdy group of Brits celebrating a stag do in May. Two men allegedly vaped, drank heavily and abused crew, leaving fellow passengers fuming.

Despite six warnings from staff, the chaos continued with fellow travellers onboard the flight from Gatwick to Marrakesh left seething as the pilot announced he would be landing in Faro, Portugal, instead.
A witness claimed: “The men were vaping in their seats and toilet, drinking heavily and to my opinion already drunk or close to when boarding. They were being abusive towards staff on the flight and I think they had an undertone of homophobia toward the head steward.”
An easyJet spokesperson said the flight, from London Gatwick to Marrakech on May 19, “diverted to Faro and was met by police upon arrival due to a group of passengers behaving disruptively onboard”. Once the passengers had left the aircraft, the flight then continued to Marrakech.
“Our cabin crew are trained to assess and evaluate all situations and acted quickly and appropriately to ensure that the safety of the flight and other passengers was not compromised at any time. The safety and wellbeing of our passengers and crew is always easyJet’s priority and we do not tolerate abusive or threatening behaviour onboard.”
