Sheffield Wednesday have issued their staff with a worrying update amid Dejphon Chansiri’s ongoing financial mismanagement.
The Owls find themselves in a concerning situation courtesy of the fact that Chansiri has failed to pay player and staff wages for two consecutive months at Hillsborough.
Thanks to the Thai businessman’s financial failings, players who were paid late, or remain unpaid, for May and June are allowed to leave the Championship club on a free transfer subject to a 15-day notice period.
Meanwhile, Sheffield Wednesday are under a transfer embargo amid the South Yorkshire outfit’s ongoing monetary crisis.

With the Championship club are struggling off the field, manager Danny Rohl could join Brentford’s coaching staff ahead of next season.
Meanwhile, according to the Sheffield Star [4 July], employees at Hillsborough were given advanced warning that their scheduled payday was unconfirmed.

However, the report adds that rumours of a mass walkout from non-footballing staff at Sheffield Wednesday are not believed to be true.

Although Rohl has been linked with joining Keith Andrews’ coaching staff at Brentford, the Wednesday boss should be keen to remain a manager in his own right once he leaves the financially troubled South Yorkshire club.

Under Rohl’s stewardship last season, Sheffield Wednesday enjoyed a particularly strong away record as the 36-year-old demonstrated his credentials in the second tier.
Meanwhile, Rohl has attracted interest from Leicester City, who have returned to the Championship following their poor Premier League spell overseen by Ruud van Nistelrooy.
The Foxes will expect to launch a promotion challenge next season, but the Sheffield Wednesday boss’ exploits in South Yorkshire suggest that he is the right man for the job.
