Two Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets were spotted by eagle-eyed residents across Bristol and North Somerset this afternoon, Friday, July 4.
The pair of Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets were spotted over Portishead.
According to a witness, the jets flew low over Bristol and then landed at Bristol Airport.
The rare sighting caused speculation about why the jets were in the skies above the city before landing at the airport.
One witness suggested that the jets were forced to make an emergency landing. This was however not the case.
The Ministry of Defence (MOD) said that the aircraft were staying at the airport overnight to take part in an air show tomorrow.
It has not been confirmed which air show the aircraft will be taking part in although the Wales Airshow is taking place on Saturday, July 5, and Sunday, July 6, over Swansea Bay.
The MOD said the landing was a routine landing and that there was no emergency landing.
