A teen was arrested after a man was attacked in the street. Merseyside Police were called to Liverpool city centre on Friday morning following reports of an incident at the junction of Lord Street and Church Street.
When officers arrived at around 11.50am they found a man in his 50s had reportedly been hit in the face. The victim suffered swelling to his cheek and was taken to hospital for treatment. Police arrested a 19-year-old man at the scene on suspicion of S47 assault, possession of an offensive weapon and affray.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: “We were called to the junction of Lord Street/Church Street at around 11.50am on Friday, July 4, following reports a man in his 50s had been assaulted.
“The man was reportedly hit in the face and suffered swelling to his cheek. A 19-year-old man was arrested at the scene of suspicion of S47 assault, possession of an offensive weapon and affray.”
