Neighbours living in the vicinity of Jeremy Clarkson’s Diddly Squat Farm in Oxfordshire have voiced concerns about the Clarkson’s Farm celebrity – and now a worker on his farm show has spoken out with the ‘truth’.

The celebrated presenter, known for Top Gear and The Grand Tour, snapped up the farm near Chipping Norton in 2008, transforming it into an overwhelming success.

His farming adventures have been immortalised in the hit Prime Video series Clarkson’s Farm, which is now in its fourth season.

But not all locals are thrilled with having a star nearby. The wave of attention from Mr Clarkson’s Amazon series has reportedly fuelled opposition among residents to Rainier Developments’ plans to construct 350 new homes.

Bricklayer Scott Sumners from Chipping Norton expressed that celebrities are eroding the allure of their small community.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, he recounted an unpleasant exchange at a petrol station involving Clarkson and another local, reports the Express.

Sumners reported: “A man went up to him and said ‘hello Jeremy‘, but he just replied ‘That’s Mr Clarkson to you.’ I didn’t like that. There’s no need to be rude.”

Others who were drawn to the area by the charm of the rural show are entertaining thoughts of departure. Bianca, who moved to Chipping Norton after becoming enamoured with Clarkson’s Farm, admitted: “I moved here because of Jeremy, but I’m probably going back to London.”

A resident voiced disappointment with their decision to move, stating: “There’s literally nothing here. I feel like I probably didn’t do enough research. I probably should have stayed here in a hotel for a week first to see what it was like.”

On the other hand, another individual shared a completely different experience on Reddit after meeting Jeremy, Lisa, and Gerald while participating in the filming of season 4.

He praised the trio, saying: “Met Jeremy, Lisa and Gerald last week whilst I was taking part in something being filmed for season 4. They’re all lovely.

“I walked into the office where they always sit to discuss farm business on the show and Jeremy was sat in his chair having a cup of tea or coffee.

“He was more than happy to chat, we even ended up talking about scenes from the move Airplane for some reason.”

He continued: “We spoke several more times throughout the day and he happily let me have a photo taken with him despite it being a busy schedule.

“One thing I didn’t expect is how much he listened to me about things we were discussing.

“He asked questions and I knew he’d taken my answers on board because I heard him repeating some of the things I’d said to other people later on. Great bloke in my opinion.”
