A brand new Starbucks Drive Thru venue is set to open in just a matter of days after building works were completed this week. The brand new coffee shop in Avonmeads has been under construction over recent months.

But now the brand has confirmed that doors are due to open next Thursday (July 10) at 8am. Photos taken by BristolLive show the structure looking fresh and new, with floor-to-ceiling glass windows, wooden panelling, and tables for al fresco eating/drinking.

BristolLive reported that the coffee shop drive thru would be coming to the Avonmeads Retail Park, back in June 2024. At the time it was reported it would be the second coffee shop at the retail park, with Avonmeads already boasting a Costa Coffee branch.

The new drive thru is located behind the KFC drive thru on the edge of the retail park, on what was formerly the overspill car park next to the fried chicken restaurant. This was described as redundant brownfield land, reportedly because the additional car parking spaces, were not needed.

Plans detailed how 41 of the spaces would be retained, with two new disabled bays and cycle parking installed.

The coffee shop will operate on a 24-hour basis and will employ a total of 25 staff. Of these staff, eight will be fill time and 17 will be part time roles.

This latest addition to the popular retail park comes just months after Bristol’s first Popeyes restaurant opened here.

Opening on April 11, Popeyes sits in the former home of the Krispy Kreme branch and is known for its ‘famous Louisiana chicken’. The brand was founded in New Orleans in 1972, and this opening marked the brand’s 76th location since first landing in the UK in 2021, and the 11th opening in the country this year at time of writing.

There are a total of 88 seats for guests to dine in, and they will also be able to order for takeaway, and even be served in the comfort of their vehicle in specially dedicated ‘Park & Serve’ bays – these are also bright orange in colour.

In addition to the new Starbucks, recently opened Popeyes, and already existing Costa Coffee, Avonmeads is also home to an M&S Foodhall, a McDonald’s, Boots, and The Range, among others.
