The 2025-26 season is quickly approaching at Old Trafford and Manchester United will be aiming to improve on their 15th finish last season.
To do this, the Red Devils have been recruiting players in several areas of the field.
One of these areas in the striker role.
This can be seen through the signing of Matheus Cunha – who became Ruben Amorim’s first summer signing earlier this window.
However, more arguably must be done by United to both strengthen their squad and to give themselves a better chance of finishing in the coveted European spots at the end of next season.
This is why news that Manchester United have made a ‘shock move’ for Dominic Calvert-Lewin may come to the pleasant surprise of some fans. This news is according to the Sun.
Calvert-Lewin is a free agent following the expiry of his deal with Everton last week.
The striker would become part of a hectic summer at Manchester United that has not only saw change in an on-field aspect but also in a off-field aspect.
If the Englishman were to join the club, he would bring depth and quality from his time at the Toffees.
However, he may have to settle for being second choice due to the current depth and quality that Ruben Amorim has available in the striker position.
But, a move to United may offer a chance for the striker to rebuild after a time at Everton that was riddled with injuries.
It would also benefit the strikers currently at Manchester United.
This is due to the experience that Dominic Calvert-Lewin has in the Premier League.
Overall, the move is a move that has potential and would work for both parties.
However, we will have to see over the coming days and weeks whether the deal has clear potential.
