TRNSMT is kicking off next weekend, July 11 to July 13, with 150,000 festival-goers set to embark on a three-day stint of music, booze and general revelry. Headliners for this year’s event include 50 Cent, Biffy Clyro and Snow Patrol.

Artists like The Script, Gracie Abrams, and Fontaines D.C. will also be making an appearance at Glasgow Green over the weekend. But such a large event with so many attendees can easily turn hectic, so it’s crucial to know what to expect ahead of the festival.

One vital thing to be aware of is how you can pay for food and drink on the festival grounds, as many venues and events these days have opted to go completely cashless (especially after Covid).

So, can you spend cash at TRNSMT, and what are some other frequently asked questions on the festival’s website?

Here’s everything you need to know.

Can you spend cash at TRNSMT?

Like many others these days, TRNSMT festival is completely cashless, meaning payments throughout the entire festival site can only be made via bank card or contactless device.

So, if you’re usually a cash person, do not forget to bring a contactless gadget such as your phone or smart watch, and bringing your bank card as a back-up wouldn’t hurt either.

Which items are allowed or forbidden in the TRNSMT site?

Small bags, sun cream, and collapsible water bottles are allowed on the festival site. Power banks, hand sanitiser and lip balm are also permitted.

However, chairs, large bottles, bags bigger than an A4 sheet of paper and external food and drink are not allowed to be brought into TRNSMT.
