Striking Wallace and Gromit sculptures have taken up a summer residence in more than a dozen South Gloucestershire locations. The much-anticipated Gromit Unleashed 3 trail commenced on Monday (June 30), involving the installation of more than 50 colourful characters around Bristol and beyond.

Bristol Live will be sharing area guides as Gromit fever grips the city, though the most informative place to plan a trip will be the Gromit Unleashed 3 app.

Gromit fans will able to plan ‘grand days out’ using the mini trail maps on the app, and can also check the opening times of each location if it’s not in a publicly-accessible spot. All of the Gromit sculptures are mapped on the app, which costs £2.49 to download and will support the trail’s aim of raising money for Bristol Children’s Hospital charity, The Grand Appeal.

For those who want a quick-read guide to the South Gloucestershire spots, we’ve rounded up a list below based on the full location guide that was released at the end of May. We’ve added a brief line about which sculpture you’ll be able to see, based on information shared by each venue this week:

  • Aerospace Bristol – Beagle 3 is the space-exploring Gromit designed by Tim Sutcliffe
  • Brabazon, Patchway – Bristol’s huge new neighbourhood is now home to an eye-catching turquoise Gromit painted with different birds
  • Cribbs Mall – The shopping centre is home to three sculptures, according to the Mall’s social media this week. There’s a Toy Story themed Gromit, a Darth Vader inspired Feathers McGraw and the yellow submarine inspired Gromit partly designed by Sir Paul McCartney, though that one might move location soon – see below about The Wave
  • Willow Brook, Bradley Stoke – Visitors can sit on the bench with Wallace and his cup of tea
  • Flaxpits Lane, Winterbourne – This gorgeous pink Gromit is covered with flowers
  • West Country Water Park, Frampton Cotterell
  • The Kendleshire, Coalpit Heath – The golf course reports that its topiary Gromit is the ‘first living Gromit’, shaped from shrubs. Its club house is even running a Gromit-themed menu with sandwiches, jacket potatoes, pizzas and more
  • The Wave, Easter Compton – Following its unexpected closure, the yellow submarine Gromit destined for The Wave initially ended up at The Mall, but it’s understood to be returning to its original destination now the attraction has reopened
  • The Rose & Crown, Pucklechurch
  • Warmley Waiting Room, Bristol and Bath Railway Path – This quirky cafe along the cycle path has welcomed a sweet-themed Norbot complete with boots designed to look like boxes of popcorn
  • Beaufort Arms, Hawkesbury Upton – The pub garden has a beautiful new addition, a Gromit covered with intricate paintings inspired by fairytales
  • St Mary Centre, Thornbury – This green garden-themed Gromit will be officially welcomed to the town with a party on July 12, with charity stalls, children’s entertainment and brass band performances
  • Kingswood Park, High Street, Kingswood – The park is home to ‘Starcatcher Norbot’, a blue sculpture inspired by space

The Gromit Unleashed 3 trail is active until August 31. It will be followed by The Greatest Dog Show on Earth exhibition before all the sculptures are auctioned off to raise money for The Grand Appeal.

We’d love to see your photos if you’ve spotted a Gromit in the wild. You can share your pictures using the form below, and we will collate the best ones in a gallery in due course.
