An estate agent has shared what the best areas in the city are for young professionals.

Last month, we revealed the best Bristol areas for families to buy houses in, and we then looked into the city’s most up-and-coming areas.

And we have now asked a estate agent where young professionals – of which there are plenty of in Bristol – should be looking when searching for their next home.

Nick Stopard, co-founder and managing director at Boardwalk, said young professionals have lots of areas to choose from in Bristol.

He said: “Most of central and inner city Bristol is great for young professionals, with a different feel to them all, so hopefully a part of the city to suit everyone.

“What Bristol has in abundance is lovely neighbourhoods that almost feel like village high streets and communities within the city.

“So St Marks Road in Easton, Church Road in St George, the Chandos Road area in Redland and the whole Totterdown area, with its pubs and cafes around Oxford Street and then up the Wells Road – these are all brilliant places to live for young professionals.

“In terms of the top three places to be for young professionals, just down to sheer abundance of lifestyle choices, we’d probably say Harbourside, Horfield and Bedminster.

“Harbourside is both central and scenic and within reach of not just the city centre for nightlife and restaurants, but walkable to North Street and Clifton Village.

“Horfield, on the other hand, has Gloucester Road while Bedminster has North Street.”

Mr Stopard added that Gloucester Road and North Street are probably Bristol’s best in terms of options for restaurants, cafes, shops, pubs, taprooms.

He added: “Many of them proudly independent, which has become essential to what makes Bristol great. These areas have plenty of community events, book clubs, run clubs – plenty of options to socialise and venues to enjoy.

“Both also are also great places for sports lovers, with both Bristol’s football clubs, Bristol Bears and Gloucestershire Cricket all playing just off of either Gloucester Road or North Street.”

The news comes as house prices in Bristol continue to rise.

According to RightMove, the average house price in the city last year was close to £400k, with sold prices being up four per cent in the space of a year.
