‘It’s not every day you see them so close’
A resident in Bristol was left in awe after managing to capture two fighter jets fly over his home. Aidan Reynolds filmed footage of two fighter jets soaring over his house in the Ashton Gate area on Friday afternoon (July 4).
It was around 2:55pm when Aidan heard a loud noise outside and saw the jets flying overhead. He said he heard them coming long before he even saw them and added it’s “not every day you see them so close”.
Aidan told BristolLive: “I couldn’t believe the noise from them. It’s something you would never expect. I heard them coming way before I could even see them. So I came out the house and I saw them above. Not everyday you seen them so close.”
On Friday, two Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets were also spotted by eagle-eyed residents across Bristol and North Somerset. The pair of Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets were spotted over Portishead before reportedly landing at Bristol Airport.

The rare sighting caused speculation about why the jets were in the skies above the city before landing at the airport. One witness suggested the jets were forced to make an emergency landing, however, the Ministry of Defence (MOD) confirmed this was not the case.
It said said the aircrafts were staying at the airport overnight to take part in an air show on Saturday (July 5). However it did not confirm which air show the aircrafts would be taking part in although the Wales Airshow has taken place this weekend. The MOD added that it was a routine landing and that there was no emergency landing.
