Firefighters have rescued a man from a riverbank in Dunmurry

A man has been transported to the Royal Victoria Hospital (RVH) after falling being rescued from a riverbank in Dunmurry.

The NI Ambulance Service (NIAS) received a 999 call at 3:35pm following reports of a person requiring assistance in the Kingsway area of Dunmurry.

NIAS despatched an Emergency Crew and a HART crew to the incident.

The Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) was contacted by NIAS to provide assistance to a man who had “fallen down” a riverbank.

One appliance was sent from Lisburn and a specialist rescue team.

The man was then “extricated” from the riverbank by NIFRS and handed over to the care of NIAS.

Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, one patient was transported to RVH.
