Cracking days out are guaranteed in Bristol this summer as the much-anticipated Gromit Unleashed 3 trail returns. After a seven-year hiatus, Wallace and Gromit are back in the city they were created in, with 53 sculptures each inspired by a different theme.
However, the trail isn’t limited to the Bristol boundary and there are some locations slightly further afield where fans can track down the much-loved characters, including in North Somerset.
Organisers at animation house Aardman and children’s hospital charity The Grand Appeal, which are behind the trail, say the Gromit Unleashed 3 app is the best place to plan a visit as it has a handy map and mini trail guides. The app costs £2.49 to download and is part of the fundraising process, ahead of the sculptures being auctioned off once the trail ends.
For those who want a quick-read guide to the North Somerset spots, we’ve rounded up a list below based on the full location guide and following our guide to the South Gloucestershire locations. We’ve added a brief line about which sculpture you’ll be able to see, based on information shared by each venue this week:
- Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm, Wraxall – Feathers McGraw has had a flamboyant makeover at the zoo, which is famously home to African elephants. The ‘Toucan Tango’ sculpture is just outside Noah’s Ark Farm Shop.
- Puxton Park, Hewish – This family adventure park is now home to Poppy Gromit, designed by DreamWorks and inspired by Poppy from Trolls. The attraction has confirmed that people won’t have to pay to visit Poppy, as entry is via the farm shop
- TOUT’S, Main Road, Cleeve – This unusual convenience store is hosting a hotdog-themed Gromit with a retro diner twist. He’s located in the courtyard of The Maple, the on-site restaurant
- The New Inn, Blagdon – The pub, run by Yeo Valley, now has a Wallace bench where punters can sit and enjoy the view with this much-loved character. Wallace has been given an update to look like the BFG

The Gromit Unleashed 3 trail launched on Monday (June 30) and is ongoing until August 31. It will be followed by The Greatest Dog Show on Earth exhibition before all the sculptures are auctioned off to raise money for The Grand Appeal. The other Somerset location on the list is Cheddar Gorge and Caves, which is on the southern edge of the Mendip Hills.
We’d love to see your photos if you’ve spotted a Gromit in the wild. You can share your pictures using the form below, and we will collate the best ones in a gallery in due course.
