If you’re hoping to binge the full Vampire Diaries saga then you’ll have to get a move on, as The Originals will soon be leaving Prime Video.

The hugely popular spin-off series centres around Mystic Falls’ original vampires – the Mikaelson siblings – as they return to New Orleans to take back their city from their old friend Marcel.

Klaus – a werewolf-vampire hybrid – is soon faced with a rare challenge when werewolf Hayley becomes pregnant with his child. Together with his family, Klaus fights to protect the miracle baby against various supernatural forces.

The Originals ran for five seasons between 2013 and 2018 and is available to stream on Prime Video.

It has now been added to the streamer’s ‘titles expiring in the next 30 days’ list, meaning fans don’t have long to binge the full series.

The Mikaelsons were first introduced as antagonists in season 2 of The Vampire Diaries.

Fans became enamoured with the powerful and complex family and they soon landed their own show, described as “better than the original” by viewers.

“This is easily one of the best spinoffs I’ve ever seen. The Mikaelson family are never boring, every season was almost equally as good as the others,” read one IMDb review. “Klaus is one of the best characters in either show and the show is worth watching just for him.”

“This show is miles better than The Vampire Diaries in my opinion. The show has a brilliant cast, characters, great story and good location. I like the way they have made this show darker than TVD and they haven’t kept that ‘coming of age’ type of show,” echoed another.

The Originals later received its own spin-off series focusing on Hope, Klaus and Hayley’s werewolf-vampire-witch daughter.

The first tri-brid to exist, Hope’s story continued in Legacies as she and other supernatural beings studied at the Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted.
