Manchester United are looking at potential goalkeeping additions this summer and may be interested in West Ham United’s current business.

Manchester United’s focus may be on attacking signings right now, but Ruben Amorim will weigh up another goalkeeper addition as well.

Andre Onana currently looks likely to stay as United’s first-choice goalkeeper despite another disappointing season.

Altay Bayindir is expected to leave United, though, and that means United will need to find another goalkeeper.

United may be tempted to sign a younger goalkeeper who can compete with Onana at first, before then taking over as first-choice stopper down the line.

United will have young stoppers on the summer wish list and Parma’s Zion Suzuki is bound to be one of them.

Suzuki was believed to be on United’s radar earlier this year, with reports suggesting that Ruben Amorim fancied the Japanese stopper for a summer move.

Those reports added that Parma wanted £45million for Suzuki this summer, a price United may not have been interested in paying for a second-choice stopper.

West Ham United have now tried their luck with a move for Suzuki, but have been sent packing by Parma.

As reported by Parma Live, West Ham have offered €25million (£21.5million), which Parma have rejected.

The Hammers seemingly view Suzuki as the long-term heir to Alphonse Areola, but will have to come up with a better offer to secure a deal.

That offer is not even half of the rumoured £45million asking price, so the Hammers are a long way away from an agreement.

United’s long-term interest in Zion Suzuki unlikely to disappear

Suzuki’s name will not be a new one for many United supporters.

Reports from Japan in the summer of 2023 suggested that United were set to sign Suzuki from Urawa Red Diamonds.

Instead, Suzuki rejected the move to United and instead headed to Belgium with Sint-Truiden.

Rather than sit on the bench at United, Suzuki tested himself with regular first-team action in Europe.

That certainly aided Suzuki’s development and his stock is on the rise after just one year at Parma.

United will still have Suzuki on the radar as Amorim considers goalkeeping additions, but could yet see him join a Premier League rival this summer.
