AUNZ Invitational XV head coach Les Kiss has confirmed his full 30-man squad for their eagerly anticipated showdown with the British and Irish Lions at the Adelaide Oval on Saturday.

After naming several Australian and New Zealand players in recent weeks, the full squad has been finalised after 17 new names were added to the group.

The new players are: Angus Blyth, Daniel Botha, Darby Lancaster, George Dyer, Harry McLaughlin-Phillips, Jock Campbell, Joe Brial, Joey Walton, Kalani Thomas, Kut Eklund, Lachlan Anderson, Lukhan Salakaia-Loto, Mac Grealy, Matt Philip, Richie Asiata, Seru Uru and Tane Edmed.

Several All Blacks and Wallabies in the squad

That means that the AUNZ Invitational XV squad will have plenty of international experience in their ranks, as there are eight All Blacks and 10 Wallabies in the group.

The All Blacks contingent in Kiss‘ squad are: David Havili, Shannon Frizell, Aidan Ross, Folau Fakatava, Hoskins Sotutu, Jeffrey Toomaga-Allen, Ngani Laumape and Shaun Stevenson.

Meanwhile, the Wallabies who have been included in the group are: Blyth, Brandon Paenga-Amosa, Salakai-Loto, Philip, Pete Samu, Uru, Lancaster, Campbell, Edmed and Marika Koroibete.

The Test players in the AUNZ Invitational XV squad have close to 300 international caps of experience between them.

Meanwhile, Kiss has a strong backroom staff joining him including former All Blacks boss Ian Foster current Western Force head coach Simon Cron, and Reds assistant coach Zane Hilton.

British and Irish Lions team: Andy Farrell again makes wholesale changes as Test team begins to emerge

The AUNZ Invitational’s clash with the British and Irish Lions in Adelaide will serve as the final match of the tour for the tourists before they take on the Wallabies in the first Test of the three-Test series at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on July 19.

“There has been a lot of work behind the scenes to build this squad and it’s exciting to see it come together,” said Kiss. “We have quality coaches and a highly motivated group of players that represent the depth of talent across Australia and New Zealand.

“Each of them has a lot to play for and there’s a real sense of anticipation about the unique opportunity in front of us.

“As the first AUNZ side to be assembled in 36 years, we have the chance to do something pretty special here in Adelaide.”
