Sunderland are ready to spend £100million on new signings after deals have already been completed at the Stadium of Light.

The Black Cats beat Sheffield United 2-1 in the Championship play-off final to book their place in the top flight.

Football Insider revealed on 29 May Sunderland’s hierarchy would make “big” funds available for a summer transfer overhaul.

Regis Le Bris’s side have already secured the permanent signings of Enzo Le Fee, Habib Diarra and Noah Sadiki, with those deals setting the club back more than £60million.

Finance expert Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider Sunderland are likely to spend a big chunk of the broadcast money they will receive after securing their return to the Premier League.

Borson previously told Football Insider Sunderland’s revenue could increase to around £150million next season.

Borson insisted Sunderland are likely to spend the £100m “entry fee” as they look to remain in the top flight next season.

He told Football Insider: “Well, it’s hard to know the numbers really because we don’t have any reference point for Sunderland.

“We haven’t got a recent time they’ve been in the Premier League, so we don’t know what they would generate from their commercial side and from their matchday, so we’re kind of slightly in the dark.

“I think they’ll look at it slightly the other way, which is if we don’t spend let’s say £100million, we are not going to survive, so we’ve got a choice.

“You either pay the entry fee of £100million, which is a big chunk of what you’re going to get from the broadcast and give yourself at least a hope of surviving, or you go very low key and you do a Luton and you sort of keep it very minimalist.

“You say, we know we’re up for a season, we know we’re going to go straight back down, but we’re going to bank the profit. Next time around, we’ll give it a better go, and it’s a kind of Luton or Norwich approach.

“I suspect they’ll spend £100million and see where it gets them.”
