A Glasgow band have named the two performances they will be watching after their set at TRNSMT this week.

Twin Atlantic are set to take the main stage at Scotland’s biggest festival on Friday – and they can’t wait to return.

“It’s a hometown show for us, so it means a bit more,” Sam McTrusty told the Glasgow Times.

Sam, lead vocalist for the Heart and Soul hitmakers, continued: “It’s our third time playing the main stage at the festival.

“We keep thinking ‘Right, this will be the last time we do a massive outdoor show in Glasgow’, but we keep getting asked back. So, we must be doing something right.”

Aside from 50 Cent, there is one other band that Twin Atlantic will be hanging around to watch.

“We’re going to stick around for Wet Leg,” Sam said.

He added: “I’ve never seen them live before and I’ve never crossed paths with them. I’m definitely going to watch their set live.

“I love headline sets at festivals too. They are so special. I grew up listening to 50 Cent, but I was way too young to go to any of his shows the first time around. It’ll be cool to see him in the flesh and tick that off the list.”

Sam said: “We love to play our most recent single, even if it’s just people standing there who have got no idea who we are or what song we are playing. That is just traditionally what we have always done.

“We’ll probably play a couple of songs off our last album because we’ve not played those songs at TRNSMT before. Before you know it, we’ll only have time for another five or six songs. We’ll then just wheel out the ones people might know the most – the ones that have been in the charts or have done the rounds at other Scottish festivals.”

Speaking of new singles and making music, Sam hinted that a new album will be on its way…someday.

He explained: “We’ve ended up with a much busier summer schedule than we planned or anticipated. We’ve had Salvation in the back for years and have loved it.

“We’ve got our own record label now. We thought we would put out a new song and make the most of this. But we’re always working on the next thing.

“We’ll definitely be making another one, I just don’t know when.”

(Image: TRNSMT) The band’s record label was born out of frustration with how the modern music industry operates, according to Sam.

He said: “The music industry is focused on individual songs achieving virality but we’re not that type of band, we’re already seven albums deep at this point.

“Having our own label allowed us to sidestep those crazy conversations about how to make a song go viral and whatever the social media flavour of the month is.”

He added: “We’re so aware of how lucky we are to be in that position, but every day is a grind. Even if you’re a new artist and you think, ‘Oh my god, this is so hard to like survive,’ but the bands that have been going for nearly 20 years are thinking the same thing. We’re all in it together.”
