A schoolboy had a “traumatic experience” after his e-bike was stolen. At around 3.25pm, Merseyside Police received a report that a 15-year-old boy had his Cube Stereo Hybrid e-bike taken from him by a man on a footpath, near Carr Bridge Road in Noctorum on Tuesday, July 8.

Officers found the suspect at a nearby address and made an arrest. They also discovered suspected cocaine and cannabis inside the property. A 19-year-old man from Upton has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and possession with intent to supply a class A and B drug. He has been conditionally bailed pending further inquiries.

Detective Inspector Peter Rexwinkel said: “This would have been a traumatic experience for the teenager, but thankfully we were quickly able to make an arrest. We will thoroughly investigate all robberies, including those targeting electric bikes, as the impact on victims can be considerable.

“Tackling the issue of the criminal and anti-social riding of electric bikes in Merseyside is an absolute priority and we will always take action to remove dangerous riders and their vehicles from the roads.

“I would urge anyone who has bought an e-bike to get a tracker. We’re much more likely to be able to get it back for you if it’s stolen if it has a tracker, and it gives us a much better chance of being able to catch the perpetrator – preventing more crime down the line.“Also, we run regular bike marking events in every area. It’s free. If you come and get your bike marked, it’s much less likely to be stolen.”

Merseyside Police are encouraging anyone wishing to have their bike marked to visit their local policing Facebook page for up-to-date information on when bike marking events are being held.
