Carlos Rodriguez jumped up the general classification at the Tour de France following a strong ride in the stage five time trial.

The Spaniard clocked the 27th fastest time in Caen across the 33-kilometre course, moving up to 16th place overall in the process.

Newly crowned Norwegian national champion Tobias Foss was the fastest Grenadier on the day, setting the 14th fastest effort.

Remco Evenepoel (Soudal – Quick-Step) set the fastest time late on, crossing the line 16 seconds ahead of new race leader Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates – XRG).

Rodriguez now sits 4:04 back on the yellow jersey ahead of Thursday’s sixth stage.
