A 21-year-old man has been charged to court after a young woman was left in a critical condition following a serious assault in north Belfast.
The incident occurred around 4pm on Tuesday.
Inspector Philip McCullough said: “We received a report at around 4.40pm on Tuesday, 8th July that a young woman had been seriously assaulted in the Brucevale Park area. She remains in hospital in a critical condition.
“A 21-year-old man was subsequently arrested in the west Belfast area on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent, common assault and criminal damage.

The man has now been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent, common assault and criminal damage.
He is due to appear before Belfast Magistrates’ Court on Thursday morning, July 10.
As is usual procedure, all charges are reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
