We are proud to announce the first half of our annual list of 35 HPC Legends, representing the Class of 2025. The list recognizes 35 luminaries who have made HPC what it is today. Starting in 2024, thirty-five honorees were announced and honored at SC24 in Georgia. HPCwire editors and advisors select the recipients based on their contributions to the HPC community over the past 35 years (35 for 35).
The honorees are celebrated for the various ways they have helped advance HPC. As our readers are aware, the HPC market is unique because scientific researchers, HPC customers, and vendors have all combined to advance HPC together. The HPCwire 35 Legends are researchers, inventors, and executives who have turned ideas into technological and commercial successes.
“Leading the foremost news outlet in high performance computing for the past 36 years has been one of the most exciting and rewarding experiences of my professional life,” said Tom Tabor, Founder and CEO of Tabor Communications Inc., publishers of HPCwire. “As such, it has been a privilege to share space with some of the brightest minds in our industry — individuals united by a profound commitment to advancing science and improving life on our planet.”
“Participating in these conversations has been both intellectually invigorating and deeply fulfilling,” continued Tabor. “The process of recognizing our industry’s Legends has represented a meaningful reflection on an incredible journey through decades of memories. It’s been an honor to engage with some of the most brilliant people in our field — individuals dedicated to advancing technology for the betterment of humanity. Those experiences have been both inspiring and fulfilling.”
Due to the difficulty in choosing just 35 HPC rock stars, the HPCwire team decided to launch an annual list, which will continue to grow with 35 new names each year as even more HPC luminaries continue to make amazing contributions to our industry.
The HPCwire 35 Legends program is underwritten by Diamond sponsor Hammerspace. The First 18 HPCwire 35 Legends are listed below, and the balance of the list will be released next month. All will be profiled on the 35 Legends microsite.
