A new Marks and Spencer Outlet store has opened its doors near Manchester.

We reported earlier this year how the retailer was planning to open the shop at Warrington’s Riverside Retail Park, close to the town centre.

It’s an addition to the M&S stores that already exist in the town, including the huge one over at the town’s Gemini Retail Park and the food hall in Stockton Heath.

The company revealed how shoppers can expect ‘up to 50% off original prices’ at the outlet, which will sit alongside other shops at Riverside, including B&M, Home Bargains, Sports Direct and a Next Outlet.

Now the 6,000 sq ft store has finally opened up, offering a selection of fashion, including womenswear, menswear and Kidswear, alongside a curated range of home and beauty products.

More than 20 new colleagues have been recruited to join the 28-strong colleague team, led by store manager Karen Evans.

To mark the opening, colleagues gathered at the front of the store for an official ribbon cutting, joined by Percy the Pig and Colin the Caterpillar.

“It’s fantastic to finally welcome customers into the new store,” said Karen. “So much hard work has led to this day so it is a brilliant feeling to have the store looking so spotless and ready.

“I’m especially proud to have built such an amazing team here at Riverside, we’ve been able to create more than 20 new roles and colleagues are so enthusiastic to get going and begin to serve the community. I’d encourage everyone to visit us to see the store for themselves and to get that unmistakable M&S quality at great value.”

There are already a number of M&S Outlet stores in the region, including one at Quayside in Salford, formerly Lowry Outlet; one at Urban Exchange in Manchester city centre; and another at the Designer Outlet Cheshire Oaks in Ellesmere Port.

While the arrival of the store has been welcomed, some have shared their disappointment that it doesn’t include a Food Hall, or wasn’t opened at the original site in Golden Square.

M&S Warrington Riverside is one of 16 new stores M&S is opening across the UK this financial year, backed by a £300m investment, as part of its store rotation strategy.
