A man has been raced to hospital with serious injuries after he was reportedly stabbed inside a property in Edinburgh.

Emergency services raced to Northcote Street at around 5.30pm on Wednesday, July 9, after the alarm was raised.

Several police vans and ambulances flooded the street, with plain-clothed officers later spotted outside a block of flats.

Cops confirmed to Edinburgh Live they had been called to reports of a disturbance at the address.

Specialist officers were seen bringing a dog under control before leading it towards a van.

One officer was seen holding a plastic riot shield as the drama unfolded.

It is understood the 43-year-old victim was attacked inside the property before being rushed to hospital with “serious injuries”.

Police say inquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5.25pm on Wednesday, 9 July, 2025, we were called to a report of a disturbance at an address in the Northcote Street area of Edinburgh.

“Emergency services attended and a 43-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident.”
