Three people have been taken to hospital and four others injured after a major crash in Glasgow city centre.

Police and ambulance crews were called to High Street, near McChuills bar, as the alarm was raised at around 12.45pm on Thursday. Pictures taken from the scene show the large emergency presence.

Officers and medics can be seen in attendance while terrified passers-by watch on. According to an eyewitness a car was “speeding” down Bell Street before it collided with a taxi and other vehicles.

The occupants of a black Ford Fiesta, which was involved in the collison, were seen being led into an ambulance while police stood guard outside.

Four people were also treated at the scene and it’s understood a car narrowly avoided hitting a woman with a pram.

The eyewitness said: “Three police cars, three ambulances, an unmarked cop car and a police van are at the corner of high street and Bell Street. A car was speeding down Bell Street before it hurtled onto High Street and spun, hitting a taxi and colliding with other cars.

“A black Ford Fiesta was up on pavement and a black taxi has hit a white car that was parked on pavement. A woman pushing a pram as she walked by narrowly avoided being hit and looked badly shaken. Three men, understood to be in the vehicles, were seen being led into an ambulance.”
