A man has denied bigamy following a wedding ceremony in Las Vegas. Marc Dougherty, of Acorn Street in Newton-le-Willows, appeared before Liverpool Crown Court today, Thursday, July 10.

The 51-year-old first appeared before Liverpool Magistrates’ Court in May, when he pleaded not guilty to one count of bigamy relating to his marriage to a woman named Pamela Lewis.

The wedding is understood to have taken place in Las Vegas on July 4 last year. It is alleged that Dougherty was already married at the time following an earlier wedding in Hull in 2006.

He pleaded not guilty to the count, which states that, on July 4 2024, he, “during the life of his wife, went through a form of marriage with Pamela Lewis”.

He appeared again today, July 10. A trial date was set for June 8 next year.
