Demarai Gray is starting to ramp up his training ahead of reporting for duty at Birmingham City’s Elite Performance and Innovation Centre.

The Wast Hills academy graduate re-joined Blues from Al-Ettifaq at the beginning of July, but he has been given extended leave after competing for Jamaica in the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Gray was an ever-present for the Reggae Boyz before they exited the competition at the group stage courtesy of a 4-1 defeat to Panama on June 25.

His new Blues team-mates jetted out to Portugal for a training camp in Albufeira earlier this week and they will take on Sevilla in their first pre-season test at Estadio Algarve tomorrow evening.

Gray will link up Chris Davies’ squad when they return to England and has been getting back into the swing of things with one-on-one sessions at the Peak Fitness Hub, which is just a stone’s throw away from St Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park.

A number of Blues players past and present have used the facility during the close season, including youngsters Brandon Khela and Romelle Donovan who recently departed for Peterborough and Brentford respectively.

Gray was filmed performing a series of football specific drills to sharpen him up for the start of his pre-season with his new employers.

The 29-year-old is one of seven new faces at Blues ahead of the club’s return to the Championship. Phil Neumann, James Beadle, Tommy Doyle, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Kyogo Furuhashi and Kanya Fujimoto are all part of Blues’ squad out in Portugal.
