Liverpool ONE initially apologised to shoppers for “any inconvenience” causedLiverpool ONE’s Under Armour store on Friday, July 11
Liverpool ONE has issued an update after apologising to customers for a temporary cordon erected inside the city centre shopping complex. The section outside a retailer on the middle level was briefly sealed off with two red ropes limiting entrance to the area.
Additionally, security personnel were seen posted in front of the premises, Under Armour, directing the public around the cordon. Liverpool ONE placards flanking the cordoned area stated: “This area is currently closed. Apologies for any inconvenience.” The closure was due to damaged windows.
On Tuesday, July 9, one window above the store entrance had visible cracks. On the morning of Wednesday, July 10, the same window was replaced with a wooden board, and the next window appeared to have also cracked.
Subsequently, all three windows above the entrance have been replaced with wooden panels, with the Under Armour logo removed to make way for the wooden board. The cordon has been lifted, and Under Armour has continued trading as usual.

In other Liverpool ONE news, the complex could soon welcome a new KFC restaurant. A planning application submitted to Liverpool City Council seeks to renovate the former GAME premises on Lord Street into a two-storey restaurant with red LED signs at the front.
The brand could become the latest fast food chain to move into Lord Street after Wingstop opened in April. The street already hosts several American franchises, including Popeye’s, Dunkin’ Donuts, Burger King, and McDonald’s.
KFC also has several other restaurants in the city centre, including St John’s Shopping Centre, Ranelagh Street, Chaloner Street and Myrtle Parade. The application for a new KFC store was submitted on June 11 and is subject to approval by Liverpool City Council.

Video game retailer GAME, owned by the Frasers Group, operates over 200 stores across the country. In 2020, the company announced the closure of 40 outlets nationwide, and nearly a dozen more have closed since 2023.
Lord Street’s GAME informed customers that the store would cease trading on Sunday, June 29. Frasers Group, which owns a number of retail brands including GAME, is preparing to open a huge Sports Direct store in Compton House on Church Street.
Since Frasers Group acquired GAME in 2019, the retailer has downsized to smaller units located inside Sports Direct stores. Signs teasing the new Sports Direct launch have been updated with GAME’s branding, suggesting the retailer will relocate from Lord Street to a smaller concession within Compton House.
Information for an additional KFC location has also appeared online with an address linked to the Strand shopping centre in Bootle. A restaurant page has been created on the KFC website list of locations.
The full address is listed as 286-288 Stanley Road,L20 3HJ, placing it within the vicinity of the shopping complex.
