Princess Kate's Ascot No-Show Could Be a Sign of Things to Come

It might not have been on the same level as the media storm generated last year when she skipped a string of royal appearances, but her decision to pull out of Ascot certainly generated some reaction.

At the time there were a lot of speculations as to why the Princess, whose name appears on the lineup of royals making appearances at the horse racing event, should suddenly pull out.

In the light of it, we’ve heard many theories as to why this was, from the disturbing – the claims that Kate’s cancer battle was heavier than any of us could have imagined – to perfectly understandable ones.

Princess Kate’s Health Wasn’t Why She Skipped Ascott

However, an insider has claimed that her health wasn’t the bulk of her decision to skip Ascot.

Kate Middleton Reportedly “Recalibrating” Her Entire Work-life Balance In Response To the “Forensic Attention” And “Criticism” That Comes With Royal Life

The toxicity of fame is starting to catch up to Kate, per a well-connected former royal staffer.

“Kate is recalibrating her entire life, her entire work-life balance,” the source told The Daily Beast. “Wednesday was a wake-up call, not a one-off. She has never found the public appearances, and the forensic attention and criticism that goes with them, at all easy to deal with, and it was just too much this week.”

They continued: “The last few years have been horrific; the disgusting things that Harry said about her and William and her family, the relentless speculation about her and William, the queen’s death, the king’s diagnosis which had them both thinking they were going to have to take over and then her own cancer diagnosis and treatment.

It’s all taken its toll, and if she needs more time to recover, William will fight tooth and nail to see she is given it.”

Princess Kate Was Over-Exerting Herself

Another Palace insider waved it off as the Princess simply over-exerting herself, and promised that lessons have been learned.

“The important thing here is Kate’s recovery,” they explained. “It was too much, unfortunately, for her to have three appearances in under a week, and the lesson has been learned. Kate will take it much easier for the rest of the year. I’d be surprised if you see her more than three times in the next three months.”
