Hosted by beloved comedian Frank Skinner, One Person Found This Helpful is a BBC Radio 4 podcast-come-quiz show in which two teams of guest comedians have to guess the product based on real reviews left online. As part of Crossed Wires Festival, the show took to the stage to record a special live version. This worked remarkably well live on stage and it made one wonder why this isn’t a TV show in the vein of Would I Lie To You?.
Frank Skinner is a fantastic host and as funny as the British public have come to expect. He is warm and personable, and bounces off the audience and his panellists well. He is given a decent amount of time to talk to the audience and set the scene before the game show begins, which is a nice added bonus.
The two teams battling it out to guess the most products correctly were made of Pierre Novellie and Freya Parker, and Louise Young and Ahir Shah. The four comedians are quick witted, taking any moment to land a joke and get a laugh. Each has a slightly different style of humour which makes the show very entertaining.
One Person Found This Helpful did feel more scripted than some of others shows to feature in Crossed Wires Festival, but nevertheless it was great fun, and made this reviewer want to go and find previous episodes to listen to or watch.
