A man has allegedly been ‘knocked down’ in a crash with an Edinburgh tour bus on the packed Royal Mile.
Emergency crews rushed to the Royal Mile at around 2pm today, Friday July 11, and are still in attendance with Lothian Buses services CS1 and 35 diverted as enquiries take place, reports Edinburgh Live.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers and emergency services are currently responding to a report of a collision between a bus and a male pedestrian which happened on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh at around 2pm on Friday, 11 July, 2025.
“Officers remain at the scene.”
Images of the incident show a tour bus stopped on the road, while a man can be seen laying beside it as a concerned crowd gathers around him.
One worried local said: “I can see a man next to the bus. Police and ambulance have arrived at the location. Looks like a person has been knocked down by the city tours bus.”
The Scottish Ambulance Service has been approached for comment.
Last month, in a separate incident, we reported that a man was arrested following a fatal crash between a car and a lorry that killed a teenage girl in Bathgate.
Mercy crews raced to the scene on the Boghead Roundabout after the horror smash involving a Volkswagen Polo and an HGV on Monday, June 9, at around 11:50pm.
Tragically a 17-year-old female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. She was later named locally as Ellie Douglas, an aspiring hairdresser.
An 18-year-old female passenger was also taken to Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment.
Police then confirmed on June 16 that they had arrested a 20-year-old man who has now been released pending further enquiries.
The circumstances surrounding the incident have been referred to the police watchdog.
Tributes poured in for Ellie who was described as a “beautiful soul”. A GoFundMe was set up to help the family with funeral costs.
It said: “Ellie was a beautiful soul who lit up every room with her humour and warmth. She was a wee gem at our quiz nights and always brought joy to those around her.
“She had just completed her Level 5 in hairdressing and was full of excitement to begin her career.”
Tia Thomson said: “You were loved by everyone. Fly high, my girl, thinking of you always.”
