The open days will take place on July 19 and 20 at Better leisure centres across Cumbria, including Penrith, Maryport, Carlisle, Kendal, and Workington.

The event will feature gym trials, masterclasses, sports sessions, and family-friendly activities.

Tom Rice, partnership manager for GLL in Cumberland, said: “We work hard throughout the year to provide an extensive programme of activities for people of all ages and abilities that are inclusive and affordable.

“Our open days are a chance to invite the local community to test out our amazing facilities and to experience a range of sessions for free.

“It’s guaranteed to be a great day out for the whole family, providing a chance for people to try out a series of fitness classes and swim sessions as well as make use of the leisure centre facilities for free.

“Our dedicated team of health and exercise professionals will be on hand to provide advice and support to anyone interested in embarking on a new fitness journey with Better.”

The open days are part of Better’s annual Open Weekend, offering a variety of complimentary activities.

Adults and juniors can book introductory gym trials, with staff available to demonstrate equipment and offer fitness guidance.

Masterclasses in ‘mind and body and strength and conditioning’ will also be available, alongside court and pitch access for badminton, pickleball, table tennis, and football.

Group cycling, HIIT, and aerobics classes will be on offer, as well as swimming sessions including ‘swim for all’, ‘swim for fitness’, aqua splash, swim school tasters, and water safety classes.

Interactive soft play areas will also be open for younger visitors.

All activities must be booked in advance online.

More information about the schedule and booking is available at www.better.org.uk/open-days.

The open days are designed to help residents discover new activities, meet health and fitness professionals, and make use of their leisure facilities at no direct cost.
