Coronation Street star Andy Whyment revealed he met his ‘idol’ at Oasis’ first Heaton Park show, thanks to one of his famous friends.

The Kirk Sutherland actor was one of many famous faces in attendance for Liam and Noel Gallagher’s first Manchester gig since back in 2009.

80,000 people managed to get tickets for the first of the group’s five shows at Heaton Park, with many opting to wear bucket hats amid the roasting conditions.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola and his daughter Maria were there to belt out tunes such as Wonderwall, Live Forever and Champagne Supernova.

A host of stars from ITV’s flagship soap were also there, including Bethany Platt actress Lucy Fallon and Amy Barlow’s Elle Mulvaney.

Wearing a black t-shirt and black shorts, Andy was joined at the show by his wife Nicola Willis, who he tied the knot to in 2007.

It turned out to be a busy night for Andy as he managed to get a snap with none other than Noel, who cut a cool figure hours before going on stage.

On top of this, Andy met Manchester City and England midfielder Jack Grealish, who he got a wholesome selfie with.

Taking to his Instagram account after a night he’ll never forget, Andy revealed it was Happy Monday’s star Shaun Ryder who got him the tickets.

He captioned his post: “@oasis are my favourite band and last night at Heaton Park I got to meet my idol Noel Gallagher.

“I can’t thank my mate @shaunryderx enough for getting us friends and family passes, I’ve seen Oasis a couple of times before but last night was a real pinch myself moment for me and @nicski31.

“If you’ve got tickets you’re in for a treat they sound amazing. OASIS ARE BACK!!!!”

Andy and Shaun have remained close friends since taking part in I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here in 2010, a year which saw Stacey Soloman crowned Queen of the jungle.

The comments section of Andy’s post saw his famous friends and fans rushing to congratulate him on meeting one of his idols.

Jack Grealish said: “What a man you are.” Sophie Webster actress Brooke Vincent added: “LOVE THIS FOR YOU.”

Eva Price’s Catherine Tyldesley wrote: “Buzzing for you – I know how much that will have meant to you. What an opportunity!” Colson Smith stated : “You have the best life ever.”
