Cops are hunting two suspects after a man was brutally attacked on a busy Edinburgh city centre street.

A large police presence was scrambled to Leith Street, just outside St James Quarter, at around 10.40pm on Friday night, July 11, after a man was seriously assaulted.

Footage from the scene shows the injured man lying on the ground surrounded by concerned bystanders before a police car and van arrive, followed by the ambulance service, reports Edinburgh Live.

Officers have confirmed the 60-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries and inquiries are ongoing to locate those responsible.

It is believed that police are hunting two men who are believed to have been involved in the horror street attack.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 10.40pm on Friday, 11 July, 2025, police received a report a man had been seriously assaulted in Leith Street, Edinburgh.

“Emergency services attended and the 60-year-old man was taken to hospital. Enquiries are ongoing to locate those responsible.”
