There hasn’t been a normal day at Sheffield Wednesday all summer, and the next few days could spring a few more surprises it seems.
Amid all the chaos surrounding Dejphon Chansiri’s failed payments to staff and to HMRC, it’s easy to forget that there is a whole saga around Danny Rohl to contend with, too.
Sheffield Wednesday are seemingly close to finding new owners for the club, with another new name emerging as a viable candidate to take over from Chansiri.
However, the club may also be looking for a new manager soon, as the situation surrounding Rohl takes more twists and turns.

As news emerged last week that Rohl was ready to come back to S6 and continue his work with Wednesday, despite trying to find another job all summer, there was confusion and frustration among the Owls supporters.
That disillusionment has seemingly spread to the players, with a number of Sheffield Wednesday stars unhappy with Rohl for the way he has behaved this summer. We understand the players have even told the board they do not want the German to be in charge anymore.
Clearly, that situation will need resolving one way or another. And, according to Sky Sports, Rohl and his players will hold a meeting on Monday (14th July) to clear the air and discuss a way to move forward.
Rohl has been notably absent from pre-season training thus far, but will report back to Hillsborough on Monday. The squad have been working at St. George’s Park over the last week, but will also return to their Middlewood Road home now that renovations are complete.
It is said Rohl will “speak candidly” to his players, but he is not expected to be given an “easy ride”.
Whether he can do enough to win the players over and get things back on track ahead of the new season remains to be seen.

Former Owls star Jon Newsome understands the frustration around Rohl, but insisted his return has to be seen as a positive.
Reporter Alan Biggs also praised Rohl for how he handled Chansiri this summer, with suggestions that the coach added pressure to the chairman to resolve things behind the scenes.
While the players may be unhappy with Rohl, and rightly so, the fact of the matter is they have got a very good manager and they have to let bygones be bygones.
Sacking Rohl now would not only cost Wednesday a substantial amount of money that they don’t have, but would also leave them looking for a new manager; how many coaches would look at that role and fancy jumping into such a messy situation? Not many, that’s for sure.
