Following the women’s singles final at Wimbledon, it’s hard to think of a time a player was dominated on the biggest stages in tennis as much as Amanda Anisimova was against Iga Swiatek.
Swiatek battered Anisimova 6-0, 6-0 to secure a maiden title at the All England Club, becoming the second woman in the Open Era to win a major final without conceding a game.
It was a complete blowout, with the Pole producing some of the best grass-court tennis of her career, while nothing was going right for the American.
The match was something two-time Wimbledon champion Andy Murray could relate to, who recently recalled the time he could barely win a game against Roger Federer.

In an interview on ‘The Tennis Mentor’ YouTube channel, when asked to name a match that he felt humbled in, Murray said: “That’s one of the things with tennis, you finish most weeks losing.
“Even the greatest players, if they play 20 tournaments in a year, if they win five of them, that’s a great season.
“I would say one of the matches where I was humbled was actually at the O2 arena, at the world tour finals.
“I can’t remember if it was 6-0, 5-0. It was definitely 6-0, 3-0 before I won my first game. It was against Federer.
“He was playing great, I was playing awful. It was in front of a home crowd in a huge stadium, and I think it was the only time in my career where I was hoping to win a game.
“I definitely felt humbled that day.”
Andy Murray’s heavy defeat to Roger Federer at the 2014 ATP Finals
The match Murray referred to was in the round-robin of the 2014 ATP Finals in London, where he met Federer for the third time that year.
In their two previous clashes that season, the 20-time major champion emerged victorious, beating the Briton at both the Australian Open and the Cincinnati Open.

Federer was on fire in their year-end meeting and wrapped the first set up with a 24-minute bagel against Murray, who had no answers for his opponent.
At 5-0 in the second set, the home favourite finally got on the scoreboard by winning a consolation game, but the Swiss legend immediately replied with a hold of serve to win the match.
