Luis Palma and Celtic is a tale that has sadly ended in disappointment.

After a bright start under Brendan Rodgers, the winger’s form began to nosedive and Palma’s game time reduced significantly.

He then went on loan to Olympiacos for the second half of last season to get more game time but made little to no impact in Greece.

Palma posted a cryptic TikTok message after being left out of Celtic’s training camp squad in Lisbon and now his latest activity shows that the writing is on the wall for his Bhoys career.

In a bid to get match fit and remain fresh should he leave Celtic Park, Palma has been spotted training with his boyhood club back in Honduras.

Vida is where the 25-year-old began his career and their manager seemed delighted to have a local star coming back to his roots.

Raul Musuruana said: “Luis Palma was welcomed warmly by the rest of the squad and it was great to see him at our training session.

“He is of course a top player and a hero to many in Honduras.”

Like all of Celtic’s international players, Palma was granted extra time off after representing his country in the Gold Cup.

When does Luis Palma’s contract expire?

As it stands, Palma’s Celtic contract expires in 2028 meaning that he still has the best part of three years on his deal.

That will be seen as an opportunity by Celtic to recoup a decent chunk of the £3.5m they paid to sign him and reinvest back into the squad.

With Michel-Ange Balikwisha expected to join Celtic, Palma continues to move down in the pecking order and it feels like now is the time to say goodbye once and for all.
