When I was offered to try a patch that promised a happier me, my immediate reaction was one of scepticism – closely followed by, “Where is the best place to stick this thing?” My house already resembles a mini Holland & Barrett, piled high with every pill, potion and powder known to man, all in the name of keeping my family and me in tip-top shape. Over the past year, I’ve been religiously drinking mushroom coffee and, truth be told, it’s been life-changing: the brain fog has vanished, I’m calmer, my immunity’s never been better and I finally have the energy to match my to-do list. So when I spotted that the Kind Patches Dopamine (£12) also contained Lion’s Mane (a type of mushroom), curiosity got the better of me.

Supplement patches have seen a surge in popularity recently – no more scheduling pills around meals or panicking if you forgot your morning dose. Just stick one on, swap it out when it’s been worn for over 8 hours and you’re done. Yet I’ve always harboured a healthy dose of doubt about whether they actually work or if it’s all placebo. Until now. After a month of trialling the dopamine patches, I can honestly say the difference is undeniable – so much so that I’ve been raving about Kind Patches Dopamine to anyone within earshot.

Read on to discover the surprising benefits of these little stickers and why they’ve become one of my daily non-negotiables.

About Kind Patches Dopamine

  • Each patch delivers a blend of Mucuna Pruriens extract (a dopamine precursor), 5-HTP (supports serotonin), Lion’s Mane mushroom (cognitive clarity) and Rhodiola extract (stress adaptation) to help maintain a positive mood and emotional balance.
  • Designed for up to 8 hours of continuous delivery, so you avoid the spikes and crashes of oral supplements.
  • Vegan and cruelty-free. The patches are made entirely from plant-based ingredients with no animal-derived substances. Suitable for all dietary lifestyles.
  • Simply apply one patch each morning to clean, dry skin.
  • Slim, flexible and waterproof enough for everyday activities (though avoid prolonged water exposure), so you can wear it under clothing without anyone noticing.
  • What I Like about Kind Patches Dopamine

The first day I applied the patch, I kept wondering when I’d start to feel happier. Every time I laughed a bit too loudly or smiled at something small, I questioned whether it was me or the patch. I wanted it to work so badly. I couldn’t think of a better shortcut to positive wellbeing than slapping a bright yellow circle on your body each morning. Imagine the money you’d save on therapy, or, more importantly for me, the mindless scrolling and impulse internet shopping. I was beginning to suspect that those late-night online splurges were just me chasing a dopamine hit once the kids were in bed.

According to the brand, dopamine helps regulate mood, energy, mental clarity and focus. When levels dip, you can feel flat, foggy, emotionally drained, or simply not yourself. Supporting healthy dopamine can leave you feeling more present, motivated and in control of your day. As a busy working mum of two, it all sounded too good to be true.

After a few days, I stopped thinking about the patches and applied one each morning alongside my mushroom coffee. About a week in, I caught myself dancing along to the radio in the kitchen one evening, feeling content even in a heatwave with a frustrated puppy and two overheated children. The following week, my period arrived, but instead of snapping at my partner (“Why are you even breathing like that?”), I barely noticed the dishes piling up by the dishwasher. Who am I kidding? I noticed them, but I didn’t have the urge to fling plates across the room, which I count as progress.

By week two, I hadn’t bought a single thing online: no last-minute Amazon Prime orders, no summer wardrobe upgrades, not even a kids’ T-shirt. Instead, I spent my evenings finally tackling projects I’d been mulling over for months, smiling, humming along to the radio. Could patches that cost less than 50p a day really be responsible?

By week three, the house felt strangely calm, not because my children had magically learned to listen, but because I chose not to sweat the small stuff. Maybe it’s just good timing rather than the patches, yet I’m not willing to risk it. I’ll be using them every day and have already ordered my next month’s supply; the summer holidays are looming and I need all the help I can get.

How to Use Kind Patches Dopamine

This is probably the real winning element for this product: you simply peel it off the backing and stick it onto dry, clean skin. It needs to be a non-hairy spot, so usually I find the inside of my wrist or the top of my shoulder, work best. Then you leave it on for at least eight hours and voila! The brand recommends rotating application sites, so I switch up the location depending on what I’m wearing or how I’m feeling that day. So far, I haven’t noticed any difference in effectiveness based on placement.

I put it on in the morning to get the benefits throughout the day. As the patch slowly releases the ingredients, penetrating the skin barrier and into the bloodstream, I simply let it do its thing for the 8 hours it lasts.

What to Consider Before Buying Kind Patches Dopamine

I know I joked about saving money on therapy, but let’s be clear: this patch isn’t a substitute for professional help. I’m a huge advocate for talking therapies and other evidence-based treatments to regulate emotions and support mental wellbeing, and a supplement should never replace any of those. That said, I was raised on the saying “God helps those who help themselves.” Whether you believe in God, the universe or simply the laws of nature, that mindset has always served me well. If this patch helps you feel better, to even get you in the right headspace to seek help, then I see no harm in that.

I also believe that consciously choosing to feel happier is powerful, and this patch sends your mind the message that you want to feel happier, which in itself has a lot of value too.
