One of Birmingham City’s signings has been given an incredible review, with them being named as the best signing in the Championship so far.
Birmingham City have been incredibly busy in the summer transfer window so far.
Following their record-breaking League One promotion campaign, Birmingham are already showing vast ambition to continue that momentum.
Chris Davies has been backed superbly by the Birmingham board, with the Blues making nine signings at this early stage of pre-season as the upcoming Championship season looms.
Six of these have been permanent deals, including the exciting return of Demarai Gray to the club, as well as picking up former Celtic star Kyogo Furuhashi, but it is actually a loan signing that has been tipped as the arrival of the summer by one EFL expert.

This summer, Birmingham City have vastly improved their options with several ambitious signings, although it is not one of their permanent deals that have been regarded as the signing of the summer.
In fact, Birmingham’s deal to bring Tommy Doyle to the club has been handed this recognition after he joined on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Doyle, 23, has joined the club after a season of Premier League football, where he notched 24 appearances for Wolves, albeit 21 coming from off the bench.
Speaking about his arrival, Ryan Dilks on the Second Tier Podcast said: “For my signing of the summer so far in the Championship, I’ve gone with Tommy Doyle to Birmingham City on loan.
“Now, it would take a lot for me usually to choose a loan deal as the signing of the summer so far, but this is significant for me.
“I think this is Birmingham City, a newly promoted team getting a Premier League quality player.
“Tommy Doyle is a wonderful talent, a superb passer of the ball. He gives them a bit of star quality in midfield that a lot of Championship clubs seriously struggle for.
“And in terms of how Birmingham will play, dominating the ball, he will flourish in that system and really make them tick. I think he will be a difference maker for Birmingham.”
Birmingham City will significantly benefit from Tommy Doyle’s Championship experience
The reason why Tommy Doyle has rightly been tipped as the signing of the summer so far in the Championship is because of the well-thought-out finances in the deal, alongside the vast experience he will offer the side.
Doyle has already shown that he is arguably above Championship quality, judging off his barnstorming Sheffield United spell where he played a crucial role in the Blades’ promotion in the 2022/23 season.
The midfielder has not quite had the chance to show his quality at Premier League level, making a drop back down to the Championship inevitable, but there is no doubt that he will remind everyone that he stands head-and-shoulders above most in the division when playing at his best.
