With the Twelfth of July bank holiday behind us, many people may be curious as to what days off remain in Northern Ireland for 2025.

As the Twelfth fell on a Saturday this year, Monday, July 14 was the substitute Bank Holiday for this year’s celebrations.

NI Direct says: “Bank holidays are holidays when banks and many other businesses are closed for the day. Public Holidays are holidays which have been observed through custom and practice, such as Christmas Day.

“You don’t have a statutory right to paid leave on bank and public holidays, though many people receive the day off work. Any right to time off or extra pay for working on a bank holiday depends on the terms of your contract of employment.”

July 11 is not a Bank Holiday in Northern Ireland but many employers will give staff two days off during the Twelfth of July Bank Holiday.

Here are the last remaining Bank Holidays for 2025 in Northern Ireland:

Summer Bank Holiday – 25 August

  • Christmas Day – 25 December
