Brockwell Lido is a beloved local landmark, housed in a Grade II-listed art deco building dating back to the 1930s. It features a bright blue, 50-meter-long outdoor pool, perfect for swimming laps or simply cooling off. Visitors also enjoy the spacious sunbathing areas and a charming café on-site, making it a great spot to relax after a swim. The lido even offers a sauna, adding to its appeal as a year-round destination for water lovers.

Close behind Brockwell in the AA’s rankings is Tooting Bec Lido, also in South London, which scored 76.4. This lido is the UK’s longest freshwater outdoor pool at 91 meters and is famous for its colourful changing huts. Like Brockwell, it requires advance booking due to its popularity.

London Fields Lido in East London secured the fourth spot nationally and third in the capital with a score of 71.3. It is notable for being one of the few heated outdoor pools in London, offering a comfortable swim even in cooler months. It also features a sun terrace and café, making it a popular year-round destination.

Other London lidos rounding out the top 10 include Hampstead Heath ponds and Hampton Pool, underscoring the capital’s wealth of excellent outdoor swimming options.

Whether you’re looking for a historic setting, a long swim, or a family-friendly venue, London’s lidos offer something for everyone. Just be sure to book ahead to secure your spot and beat the queues.
