SHEFFIELD produced a scintillating second half showing to storm to a 60-30 home win in South Yorkshire over Oxford on Monday.
Just four points separated the two sides with seven races gone, but the Tru7 Group Tigers struck six 5-1s in the last eight races to romp to victory.
That was despite losing Anders Rowe after his first two outings with an arm injury, but his six team-mates pulled together superbly to close the gap on Ipswich to just two points at the top of the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership standings – with the Tigers also still having two meetings in hand.
On his return from injury, Rising Star Leon Flint stole the headlines as he raced his way to a first ever unbeaten night in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership with a simply stunning 13+2 paid maximum.
Captain Josh Pickering dropped just one point to an opponent when Spires’ skipper Maciej Janowski beat him to the flag in Heat Five.
After a last place in his opening outing, Chris Holder responded by reeling off four straight race wins as he recorded a fourth straight double figure return.
Lewi Kerr and Jack Holder both picked up two race wins and a paid win each as they both finished in paid double figures whilst Justin Sedgmen finished with paid seven after being involved in two 5-1s on a much more encouraging night from the Aussie.
The Tigers are back in action next Monday (July 21, 7.30pm) when they travel to Leicester with the two teams then meeting at Owlerton a week on Thursday (July 24, 7.30pm).
