The brand-new Hotel Indigo Leeds and Mediterranean-inspired connecting bar and restaurant, The Banksia, is officially open.

Located on Lower Briggate, the 107-bedroom hotel pays homage to Leeds’ rich industrial heritage, the rise and success of Leeds’ John Waddington who founded the popular board and card game company Waddingtons.

The hotel also brings two meeting rooms which act as the perfect space for conferences and working lunches, and a fitness centre complete with the latest equipment in a modern environment.

Opening alongside the hotel is The Banksia, which blends old-world Mediterranean flavours with local Yorkshire produce and a modern, vibrant dining experience.

Made up of four core sections, the All-Day Menu comprises a mix of seafood, meat, soil and grill options, and The Banksia has curated a special ‘Cosmopolitan Selection’ of cocktails, giving a nod to the site that came before it, and the rebirth and regeneration from which it takes its name.

Following the multi-million-pound investment, the new hotel and restaurant brings more than 60 jobs to the city.

Simon Grace, general manager at Hotel Indigo Leeds, said: “We’ve brought together an incredible team all under one roof to ensure that we deliver nothing short of the best hospitality to all our guests that walk through the door.”

Keval Thakerar, director of Belfont Hotels, the hotel’s owners, added: “Leeds is such a thriving city, and to not only be a part of that, but also to have given nods to it throughout with unique touch points is something that we’re incredibly proud of. This is just the start, and we can wait to see just how far we can go.”
