Prince Harry has been brutally mocked by a commentator for his previous drug confession while she carried out a review of Meghan Markle’s “overpriced” rosé. The Duchess launched her wine with her brand As Ever on July 1, with the product selling out in less than an hour.

The Duke of Sussex, who quit royal life in 2020 and moved to the US, previously admitted to taking drugs during his younger years in his bombshell memoir Spare. His admission later led to questions over how he was able to obtain a US visa, with previous drug use often being cited as a reason for visas being declined.

As she reviewed the drink, Daily Mail columnist Jan Moir wrote: “The tasting notes promise ‘a delicately balanced rosé with soft notes of stone fruit, gentle minerality and a lasting finish’.”

In a brutal dig to Harry, she reflected on “soft and stoned” notes, adding: “That makes me instantly think of poor Prince Harry, who wrote about using marijuana, cocaine and psychedelic mushrooms in his memoir, Spare.

“Delicately balanced? That does not make me think of Prince Harry, so let’s quickly move on.”

Earlier this year, Harry faced calls over deportation from the US – with his visa documents later released.

The heavily redacted court documents, which were released in March, read: “Plaintiffs allege that the records should be disclosed as public confidence in the government would suffer or to establish whether the Duke was granted preferential treatment.

“This speculation by Plaintiffs does not point to any evidence of government misconduct.

“The records, as explained above, do not support such an allegation but show the regulatory process involved in reviewing and granting immigration benefits, which was done in compliance with the Immigration and Nationality Act, 8 U.S.C. § 1103 and applicable rules and regulation.”

Harry and Meghan currently reside in California with their children, Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4.
