Police have released an image of a man they wish to speak to after a teenager was allegedly sexually assaulted on a train.

The 17-year-old victim was sat on the Birmingham International railway station service to Shrewsbury on 9.20pm, Thursday April 24, when a man sat next to him.

The man then started talking to the youth, asking for his phone number and if he would like to go for a drink.

The man is then said to have sexually assaulted him before getting off the train at Shrewsbury Station.

British Transport Police have released an image of a man they wish to speak to in relation to their investigation.

BTP said: “Do you recognise this man?

“Detectives investigating a sexual assault on a train from Birmingham International have released this CCTV image in connection.

“At around 9.20pm on Thursday 24 April a 17-year-old boy was on a train from Birmingham International railway station to Shrewsbury.

“A man sat next to him and began talking to him. He asked him for his phone number and to go for a drink before he later sexually assaulted him.

“The man left the train at Shrewsbury.

“Detectives believe the man in the CCTV image may have information that could help with their investigation.

“Anyone who recognises him is asked to contact BTP by texting 61016, or by calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 749 of 24 April.

“Information can also be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
